Tom Johnston
President/CEO

Following graduation from the University of Washington in 1971 with a degree in Architecture, Tom began his career as an architect with several Seattle area firms specializing in design of medical facilities.

In 1975 he founded The Johnston Associates, Inc., a Bainbridge Island, WA, architectural firm specializing in design of residential and or senior congregate housing projects. His early project included the first HUD 232 co-insured assisted living community in the country.

He also formed Northwest Care Management, Inc., in 1990 to provide development, marketing, operation and management services for independent, assisted living and Alzheimer’s projects. To date, he has been involved in the design, development and/or operation of more than 35 assisted living projects in three states and Canada.

Darah Cooney
Vice President of Corporate Operations and Marketing

Darah oversees the corporate operations of Northwest Care Management with over 13 years of experience. She is responsible for marketing all of the facilities Northwest Care Management manages as well as overseeing the development of each facility. Darah is a graduate of Cal Lutheran University, with a BA in Marketing.

Tom Oldham
Vice President of Human Resources and Support Services

Tom, has over 34 years of experience in capitol and expense management and human resources in healthcare and other sectors. He is a graduate of Seattle Pacific University with a BA in Business Administration.

Sigrid Howard
Director of Operations

Sigrid has over 19 years of experience in the assisted living/dementia field. She oversees the operational management of Northwest Care’s facilities, assuring compliance with all Federal, State and local requirements and hiring, training and supervising the facility administrators. Furthermore she provides clinical, regulatory and quality assurance guidelines as needed by each facility. Sigrid is a licensed Washington State Nursing Home Administrator and has been a successful senior care manager for the past 10 years.

Mary Lumadue
Director of Finance

Mary has over 13 years experience in the accounting field and has been with Northwest Care Management for over 12 years. She is responsible for all of the accounting functions for each facility managed as well as that of Northwest Care Management. She is a graduate of Western Washington University with a BA in Accounting.

Kelly Quinn
Executive Business Coordinator

Kelly has over 29 years office experience and has been with Northwest Care Management for over 9 years. She currently is responsible to the CEO, VP’s, Directors and the Administrator of each building. She coordinates the day to day operation of the corporate office focusing on interfacing with each community.

Ellen Oconer
Accounting Manager

Ellen has over 11 years experience in the accounting field. She interfaces with the Business Manager of each facility and currently handles accounts payable and accounts receivable for our buildings. She is a graduate of California State University Northridge with a bachelor in Finance/Accounting.

Jo Ann Gass
Lead Bookkeeper

Jo Ann has over 14 years experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable. She has been with Northwest Care Management for over three years and works closely with the Business Manager of each facility.

Kimberly Scholl
Human Resources Coordinator

Kim has recently joined our team as our Human Resources Coordinator. She interfaces daily with our facilities on business and human resource matters. She brings to us 5 years of business experience. Kim is a graduate of the University of Nebraska Kearney with a degree in Business Administration and Marketing.

Wunmi Benson
Accounting Assistant

Wunmi is the newest member of our Northwest Care Management team. She has over 5 years experience in business. She is currently studying at Olympic College and will further pursue her degree in Accounting at the University of Washington this fall. She is responsible for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivables and interfaces with the Business Office Managers of each facility.
